aromatherapy
Aromatherapy involves the use of essential oils upon the body to promote physical and psychological wellbeing.
Essential oils are extracted from plants using mainly steam distillation depending on where the oil is from on the plant. For example, rose oil is extracted from the petals of the rose, while frankincense is a resin that comes from the bark of the tree. The oils are absorbed through the skin and enter the blood stream and through the olfactory nerves of the nose via smell. Oils then have a subtle influence on the mind and can have a balancing effect on the person. |
